Just barely okay. The waitress was extremely nice, but that's about all I can say. The food was garbage and bar service was at a snail's pace. There are a ton of great places to eat in OC. Do yourself a favor and skip this one.

$15 AYCE Ribs & Shrimp on Wednesdays... Plus, $3 Natty Boh Drafts during O's games were very tempting. Gave it a shot & the Ribs were very very good. More meat on them than there should be for $15 all you can eat. I also have tried the Thai Shrimp appetizer, 6 Jumbo Shrimps with a sweet & spicy chili sauce were very yummy. Def a bar atmosphere as evening approaches... Has a seating area for groups, and around 9 PM a band started playing. *An abundance of trashy eastern shore girls are available for hitting on also*

Could have been great....our server shannon was awesome. The Bartender/ Manager Was A jerk. Rude and arrogant. Refused to put the Caps game on...wanted to hear the NFL draft instead. LOST three tables of 15 people and said he didn't care. Told us to have a nice night. WONT GO BACK.

Rating 4.5 I am definitely a fan of this place! Was down here for a girls weekend and we were all craving some REAL food were so tired of fries burgers etc. This place really hit the spot. The location was good, the food tasty and our server was very nice. The prices also weren't bad but there was a bit of a wait once we were seated for our food but it was worth it. The pot pie my gf ordered was HUGE. I ordered meatloaf, mac and cheese and greens. The meatloaf had a great smoky flavor but some BBQ sauce would have been nice, the mac and cheese was really good and the greens seasoned well. Thank you for that! I'd definitely recommend this place and will be back.

Awesome! Best Carolina BBQ sandwich in OC. Coleslaw was fresh and tasty. My wife loved it. I had 1 lb of fried shrimp, plump, fresh and well worth it. Best Rum Runner in OC. And the lager was in bottle. Kids loved the popcorn shrimp also.

Went here for breakfast this morning. Looking for someplace without a long line because of the Air Show. Was delightfully surprised. Reasonably priced and pretty good. I had the homemade hash and eggs. Very nice....maybe a bit too much potato but good. Accompanied by a huge portion of Tater Tots....love them....but I think a bit too many. Came with toast or biscuits....chose the biscuit but these, unfortunately were quite heavy and a bit tasteless. The butter helped but, there was only Apple & Grape jam to be had....would have loved some strawberry....so the biscuit remained largely uneaten. My husband had the 3 eggs with scrapple. Again a huge portion of Tater Tots. Nice crisp scrapple. He had the same thought about the biscuit...maybe it was overworked. All in all a good $20 breakfast. We'll be back!

One of the worst dining experiences ever. Where do I start... 1. Waitress forgot our drinks. After 15 min. came over when we flagged her down and at least she admitted to forgetting. 10 min. later she came back with our waters and "iced" tea. In quotes because there was no ice in any of our drinks. She then came over with the creamers for the coffee and slammed them on the table and walked away. 2. Our food took about an hour to get to us. We would have been better off if it didn't come at all. The hash browns were a single square of dripping grease of potatoes. The food was horrible. Only good comment was there is too much bacon in my omelet. However, he felt sick halfway through because of the amount of grease oozing out of the eggs. 3. The silverware was questionably clean. By this time we didn't care. My friend's breakfast sandwich looked like the square unmelted cheese on the bread still had the plastic on it. It didn't but just looked that unappetizing. Will never go back to eat brunch there again. Completely disgusting.

Stop by today to check this place out..Orlando family looking at local spots to eat..came across this one right down from our rental home and had decent reviews. here is the scoop food was great I had the OC pull pork sandwich, wife had crab cakes, pizza and a grilled cheese for true kids...see pics below...the service was a little hectic, not to attentive at times and it did not look busy...drunk guys at bar drunk on Natties!! Where getting more attention.. Only bad part about this place was the BATHROOMS!!!The dining area looks awesome with the beer tap handles on the ceiling and the cool LPs..but they must have run out of money to make them bathrooms more presentable...just saying... anyways thanks for the good food...but we will be trying different joint in the area...lots to chose from...

The mimosas are gross, our server might be the worst I've ever encountered, we waited at our table for 10 min before she took our drink order, another 15 minutes before it came. The coffee is warm, not hot. They don't allow you to split checks, nor do they allow "special" requests, such as a side of eggs. Apparently that's a bizarre thing to ask for? During breakfast? Multiple tables that came after us have gotten food and drinks before us. I meant to go to happy jacks but the wait was long. I've waited longer here at pit and pub for fresh coffee than I would've at happy jacks. I've been waiting for my food for 50 minutes, this better be the best bacon and eggs on the eastern seaboard. UPDATE: the sausage gravy was like room temp, maybe it was hanging out in the same spot as the crappy coffee. No one in my party finished their food.

Came here to eat in 2011, but don't remember much of the food. Last year, on our yearly OCMD trip, we found out that Thursday's is Locals Night so we did it again this year and as always had a blast. It's half price drinks so vodka club is $2.75. This year there was a promoter walking around handing out free samples of some mango drink. Cheap and free drinks got my friends and I a little too drunk. Crowd is good and so was the dj. We got there around ten to eleven and it was still empty but don't leave. It does get packed but a very manageable packed. Definitely go for Locals Night on Thursday's!

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE! We stopped in for breakfast and it was the worst "on the fly decision" of our trip. There was a 30 min wait for a table so they gave us menus at the door and so we knew what we wanted by the time we got our table. Our waitress was terrible and didn't take our order for at least 20 mins after being seated. Our drinks didn't come for probably another 20 mins...no creamer for our coffee...no napkins...no silverware to eat our food! When the food arrived it was cold but it didn't matter because we had to wait 10 more mins to get the damn silverware anyway. What a waste of time and money. Go to The Sahara.

My husband and I were on a mini-moon in OC during the off-season...so there weren't many restaurants open...we found this place while driving around completely starving! It was pretty empty, but it had a cool, sports bar - type ambience...good for lunch and a drink or two. And that's exactly what we had - the hubster got the French Dip Sub with Fries...he loved it...(I tried it too...mmm)...the au jus was fresh and delicious. I got the Fish Tacos...oh lawd! They were huge! I'm used to getting three little, tiny, assembly required fish tacos...these puppies were big! The fish was battered and tasted so fresh! What i really liked is that they put raw cabbage on it...it added an awesome crunch with the tomatoes...the tortillas were grilled perfectly also! I was stuffed, but happy :) As for our drinks, the boy got a couple rum and cokes and I had two very good gin and tonics...we really enjoyed our lunch here...and we would totally go back!!

More 2 1/2 then a 3 but the potential is there. Waitress was great, very professional and knowledgeable of the menu. It was the food that kind of fail for my wife and I, we ordered 2 apps wings and crab dip. The buffalo wings were very good though the smoke comes through strong and you can't really taste the actual sauce on them. The crab dip was more the consistency of cream of crab soup the flavor again was good but the soft pretzels served with it were gummy chewy and dry. For our meal we split Ribs and steam shrimp with sides mac and cheese and cornbread. Ribs pretty solid a tad over chard but fall off the bone and succulent. Steamed shrimp were poor, mushy, overcooked and under seasoned. Mac and cheese very disappointing dry, broken greasy cheese sauce and stringy melted cheese or top. The cornbread was average tasted like a sweet cornbread box mix. If I was to return I would stick to there guns just smoker items and lean away from there seafood and sides. The potential of there smoke items are there just some major work needed elsewhere.

I came here this past weekend for the first time. This building has been a number of different bars over the past years, the last being some type of pirate themed place that was god awful. Now it is more of a sports bar that serves BBQ. I had the appetizer that is mac n cheese covered with chili and tater tots. It was excellent. I had the brisket for dinner and it was tasty. There is a fine line of having just the right amount of fat in the brisket for the flavor. I thought there was too much in mine. I also like my brisket sliced, were here it was pulled. Another person in my party had the ribs, and they were tasty, but not much better than Famous Daves. This seems like a good place to go to watch a Ravens game and have a sandwich. If you are looking for a true BBQ experience, you will be disappointed.

Not the best, not the worst. The beer was cold, the service was attentive and the food was tasty. Nothing really stuck out about the place since it was really empty when we went here. The space is nice. There seem to be plenty of seats at the bar and tables. Drink specials were OK but really nothing out of the ordinary. This place was as generic as this review.

For a BBQ place the beef brisket was average. The hush puppies were good though. Wife ordered chicken pot pie. It was one of the largest puff pastries I have seen. As my wife put it "Gordon Ramsey would not approve". Service was slow for a Wednesday night at 730.

I like this place. I've been probably 15 times. The usual crowd is young to mid 20s. They have nachos with beef brisket that are huge. Wings are really good. It's a sports bar with lots of TVs. They have a nice happy hour, daily and game time specials. Some happy hour specials are $5 1/2 lb steamed shrimp, $5 1lb wings, $2.50 drafts and $5 orange crushes.... This is a fun place to watch a game.

Food was really good- had the brisket and Mac n cheese, simple and good. Service on the other hand- terrible. It appears to be a common theme down here to just have shitty service at most every place you go to. Waitress threw the menus on the table. We asked if there were drink specials, she said no. I then noticed posted on the wall there were in fact drink specials. When I asked about them she said it was only at the bar. 10 min later someone else came in, asked the same question, was told the specials and was able to have their drink at the table, not the bar. Overall, places need to realize their shitty staff reflects on their establishment.

Every once in a blue moon, you stumble across a real hidden gem of an establishment. Either they have the most delicious food you've ever encountered... an incredibly lively atmosphere filled with interesting people... service that makes you feel like royalty. 28th Street Pit & Pub has none of those things, and can only be compared to a torture chamber where you're desperately searching for a way out. I don't ask for a lot when it comes to restaurants. But my friends and I certainly also did not ask for the agony that is Pit & Pub when we visited on vacation about 2 years ago. I'm not quite sure if it was the fact that about 10 Steelers fans from Pittsburgh came strolling in, placing a target firmly on our backs, or if this place is just genuinely a wreck. I'm leaning towards the latter. I'll start with the pros of the place. The structure isn't caving in on itself. There were no (visible) corpses of previous guests. And most importantly, we left in one piece. The food was absolutely horrendous. I checked the website and noticed they no longer serve the chicken dumplings apparently. Which is probably smart because when we visited, the chicken dumplings looked like they should be listed under the "beverages" section considering it was simply water with inedible objects floating around. I will never forget the disappointed look on our friend's face when the slop arrived. It was honestly identical to the look somebody has when they read a college rejection letter. The cheeseburger I ordered would've made a fantastic chew toy for any household dog. The rest of the food went untouched. The only excuse for the waitress' complete clueless behavior was that she had undergone a lobotomy the night before. She refused to separate our checks - there was NO indication of this prior to our meal whatsoever, NOR was it printed on the menus at the time (which explains why it is now mentioned on their website). She had to be reminded 3 times of our order, muttered complaints under her breath, and it took about an hour to finally receive (most) of what we ordered. Also, apparently this establishment does not recognize western Pennsylvania VISA cards. We each were forced to be charged an unusually harsh fee to use their ATM which looked more like a prop from George Orwell's "1984". We wanted out of there so bad that we paid the horrendously high price, kissed the ground upon leaving, and found other venues in Ocean City which were far better. The decor of the place fits well with the beach theme of Ocean City. In the sense that it looks like the building had been submerged under the Atlantic Ocean and untouched since recovery. There were ceiling fans that hardly worked, a gloomy and poorly lit atmosphere, and pointless decorations on the walls to really give you that "I don't care about anything" feeling. Also, the regulars at the bar who (unprovoked, mind you) began yelling obscenities at us for wearing Pittsburgh Steelers jerseys were very entertaining. The bartender helped out however by laughing at their jokes, and over serving them despite the fact they were extremely inebriated at 8:30pm. I've never been one to not make the best of any situation with friends and family when we go out, but this was beyond repair. How this place is still operating is beyond me. If there is one piece of advice I can share regarding 28th St Pit & Pub it's this: run...

Excellent and friendly service. Great meal. We tried (and shared) several menu items and everything had great flavor. Will definitely be stopping by again. Lots of daily specials too.

We spent Thanksgiving week in OC just as we do every year. This year we found the 28th St. Pit and Pub. Went there for dinner on Monday night. Had the best wings ever. They were smoked and then fried to perfection with just the right amount of Old Bay. The beer selection was good and the atmosphere was casual and very friendly. We liked it so much that we decided to bring our adult children back with us for Thanksgiving dinner. It was absolutely delicious!!!! They gave us so much food I ate for 20 minutes and still hadn't made it halfway through my plate. What I liked even more is that it was such high quality - not the usual bland buffet you get at the local hotel restaurants. The waitress was EXTRA nice and there to check on us but not rush us. We took the pie and other leftovers back to our condo and enjoyed it all over again the next day. This is now on my list of "must do" on our next visit. :)

We ate here on our way out of town and I am so glad we did. It was about 12:30 pm on a monday and there were only ourselves and another couple in the restaurant. One server was working and he did an incredible job. He was friendly, helpful, kept our drinks full, and saw to all of our needs. The food was reasonably priced and truly delicious. I had the muscles, and my friend had the BBQ sandwich. We split some hot wings. Everything was very tasty. My friend enjoyed the BBQ. The muscles were a standard white wine and butter preparation, with a garlic bread that brought the meal up a full notch. The wings were honestly the best I have ever had and I have eaten a lot of wings. They were smokey, crispy and wonderful. The sauce had a wonderful complexity and clarity of flavors. It was garlicky, spicy, hot, and buttery smooth. Added to the transcendent wing preparation this took a dish I have tried thousands of times to a new level. If you are in town and only try one thing try the wings.

This place is what we call "Ocean City good." Pit and Pub is a welcome addition to Ocean City's midtown dining scene, which is to say that it's not terrible. I feel like they've gotten complacent, thinking that "Ocean City good" is good enough. Back in the day (2011), they were doing things. The shrimp salad was full of plump, meaty shrimp properly seasoned with Old Bay, and you got about a pound and a half of it in your sandwich. The best thing I ever had there was a fried green tomato appetizer, featuring the titular fruit along with remoulade and lumps of crab just dropped over the top of the thing because what the hell we're down the ocean. Both of those items are no longer present, and what remains is pretty OK. The fried half chicken really is outstanding, but last time I was there they ran out of it (and I was eating early). Ribs were too sweet, barbecue chicken was as boring as your mom's barbecue chicken, the fried shrimp was fried into black, crunchy oblivion. Seriously nasty. This ain't the Ritz. I think they have barrels you sit on? If that's not literally true, it illustrates a point about the amenities. It's casual. Super casual. I wore a polo shirt and felt embarrassingly overdressed. The restrooms haven't been finished in three years. But whatever. It's Ocean City. There are TVs showing the Orioles, and you can get "a giant-ass can of Natty Boh" (Zagat-style quote!). There are worse options.

We took a leap of faith and tried it out. We started out with the honey old bay wings. Great flavor and very meaty. Temperature was hot and slight spice. We dine with another couple: Both men had the beef brisket entree. They were slightly disappointed because it was shredded and not sliced. But after they got over that they enjoyed it. Brian got the baked beans and fries. Jeff had the mac & cheese it was very chessey he also got the corn bread that was very good. Kate & I both had the pulled pork sandwich with fries. The BBQ sauce was great, it was a tangy vinegar sauce. The worst part of the meal was before we even got it...the three of us wanted sweet potato fries. The waitress came out and told us they didn't have anymore. That was a let down. $66 for the four of us not too bad. We had waters and 1 iced tea no alcohol. Atmosphere was bar like. We would return.

This place is great! Great athmosphere and great drinks. Kathy is the bartender you want. She made us laugh so hard and her drinks were great. She was able to make our own drink for us. She also remembered us and had our orders ready and memorized when we walked in. Definitely a great local place that will take care of you. The food is also great!

  • Eric N.

I really wanted to like this place, the service and atmosphere was good. Smoked wings with old bay were very good. The Brisket was like pulled beef that I could cook in a crock pot. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't barbecue either. No bark, no smoke ring, and no smoke flavor. We ordered it un-sauced but there was still some vinegar based sauce that it was apparently soaked in. If it weren't for the buy one entree get one free coupon, I'd really be disappointed. Oh well, the search for decent barbecue continues.

Crappy place, horrible service, waitress asked for 2 forms of id for my brother in law (he had his license, no fake id, he's in his 30's....pretty ridiculous....do you want to see his tattoo that matches the name on his license?). Do not order a piña colada....it looked like milky ice, no flavor (worst ever!, in fact a cup of blended ice would have been better). Will NEVER go back! It was extremely hot in this establishment, only fans were running.

  • Human B.

It took them an hour to serve us our food and it would have taken longer if we hadn't said anything. The food was warm, not hot because I bet it was ready for a while before they finally served it to us. I didn't like the $15 beef brisket; it had a lot of fat and it was kinda disgusting as all hell. The fries were OK. The atmosphere is ugly dark and dumb. The waitresses don't seem to know what they are doing. I wouldn't go here again. I felt like I was on kitchen nightmares.

It was about 2130 and I was feeling a bit hungry and wanted to try something within walking distance from my hotel. After walking about 7 blocks I almost grabbed something at the 7-11 when I noticed a bar called 28th St. Pit & Pub. I figured what the hell and went in. The place was not overly crowded so I grabbed a spot at the bar. The bartender was very polite and honest about the menu. He said everything was made fresh in house and that all the meats were smoked overnight. When I asked him about the Cuban sandwich he said that he didn't really like mustard on his food so he never tried it. One of the locals then told me that no matter what I ordered, it would be delicious. I am a hugwith a beer ran me $13!!!! That's it. Also, they sell shirts e fan of the Cuban so I ordered one. The sandwich comes with fresh made chips standard or you can order another side. I just stuck with the chips. The sandwich was made with ham, pulled pork that was smoked in house & smoked gouda. The bartender gave me salt, pepper, BBQ sauce and Hot sauce. I added a little pepper and hot sauce to the sandwich and took a bite. This was by far the best damn Cuban sandwich I have ever had. The pork was amazing! I would not hesitate to order the pulled pork platter if I was a local or passing through again. The flat bread it was made with was a great choice as well. Also, the chips were delicious. They were not salted when I received them which I was thankful for after ordering chips at Pickles and having them arrive so salty they were not edible. I salted to taste and they were great. I was also told that the turkey platter was amazing and that if I came back in I should try it. I highly recommend stopping into this place if you get a chance. The Cuban sandwich as well. Great place.

Daughter and I just made our first trip to Pit and Pub during the Nor'easter last week. I was happy to see that this is definitely a "Baltimore" bar. Great place to watch the O's, and also a Ravens Roost. We went for the O's game that night. The food here was delicious! My daughter had the chicken cheesesteak. Piled high with REAL pulled chicken and provolone. Even the roll was toasted and lovely. I got the grilled chicken dinner. I asked for no sauce, since I'm not a fan of BBQ sauce. It came out just as I had asked, and it was smoked and grilled to perfection. Very tasty, and the breast meat was anything BUT dry! The side salad was really good and ample too. The fries that I ordered with it were rather generic, but fried well. Next time I'll probably get some gravy on them. They also make a pretty good Rum & Coke -- not watered down. My daughter got a virgin pina colada that was yummy! Our server, Linda was a sweetheart. She even went out into the storm to close a window for me that was sending a real chilly draft my way. We were really impressed by this place, and we'll definitely be back -- soon!. I can't wait to try more of their food. Plenty of Tv's around to watch the games, and an overall nice crowd. I really like this place. I even went out of my way to tell Linda how impressed I was -- they seem to do everything right!!

We were actually trying to go to mother's cantina for a late dinner and drinks and were told that the kitchen was closed but that this BBQ place was open right across the street. We go across the street and enter but no one is there to greet us, nor is there some sort of hostess station. We are left standing there about 5-10 mins before someone greets us and sits us at a table . I ordered ribs, baked beans, and mac n cheese. My bf orders fried shrimp and fries. Who goes to a BBQ spot and orders fried shrimp smh. We wait about 20 mins for our food. I found it strange that the waiter didn't come back to tell us they were out of fries, instead they just brought over an order of tater tots. My bf is better than me bc I'm not a fan of tater tots. He enjoyed his shrimp and tater tots. My ribs were delicious and fell off the bone. The mac n cheese tasted like I was eating a stick of butter. I loved their baked beans. Ribs and baked beans are a must here.

I DO NOT SUGGEST- GO SOMEWHERE ELSE Service and food quality was very poor for our visit of 4. We were given only 2 menus, it took a while to: give our drink order, receive them, and our food. We waited so long to order our drinks, we immediately ordered our food to get the rush in. They were not busy, it should not have taken as long as it. I ordered a pull pork sandwich- the bun, meat, and sauce were all poor quality. My friend ordered a beef brisket sandwich and his meat was also poor quality. There are so many other places to diner in OCMD, spending your money on better food elsewhere

My friends happened to stumble upon this place for lunch and ordered carryout for me (grilled chicken sandwich). I was tempted to tell them how I wanted it but I was too hungry and didn't want to delay the order. I was pleasantly surprised, to say the least, that it was exactly how I like it: soft bread, lots of mayo (don't judge me), lettuce, tomato, and of course hot and juicy chicken. The side of chips and pickle were the basic ones you get anywhere, so they were basically good. The next morning, my friends and I headed over to Happy Jack but the line was ridiculous. On our way back we passed by - "oh yeah the place where we got lunch yesterday" - and decided to try their breakfast (their lunch was good, why not?). There were some hiccups while ordering (for some reason some things on their menu aren't accurate - e.g., the menu says your choice of toast or biscuit, but if you opt for the biscuit, they'll tell you it'll cost more) but our food came out hot and in generous portions. That evening my friends ended up going back, and went again the following night. While I can't personally speak on it, they said that their late night specials were good. A hidden gem in OC!

I had high hopes for this place since it bills itself as the only authentic smokehouse in Ocean City. I went with a party of 8 and when we got there, we were the only table. We were greeted and seated promptly. The interior of the restaurant is really one large room dining room with a bar at one end. The prices on the menu were very reasonable compared to other restaurants in OC. The food was meh, however the service was good. The beer selection is average but there is a full bar if that suits your fancy. I thought the ribs would be better but they were average or just below. The beef brisket was good and had just the right amount of tasty sauce. I would likely go again just to give them another try.

FOOD REVIEW ONLY: I thought the 3-4 star reviews for this place were accurate. We picked this place because it was close to our hotel and my husband wanted choices other than seafood. I had the fish tacos which were HUGE for an app. The soft taco shell was kind of dried out and fell apart but the filling not bad. The sweet potato fries were good as well as the Mac n cheese. The other reviews on the ribs said average and I didn't tell my husband because I didn't want to sway him. After eating them he informed me they were just ok. Hush puppies and corn bread were good. Seems like the side dishes far outweigh the entrees for this place.

Bad place - bottom of the list. First, the bad - the food (mediocre is a compliment), the service (slow for no apparent reason - especially the kitchen), the temperature (no A/C, just fans), the beer (draft not cold), the bathroom (I've smelled better barns). The good - the waitress did try and there are a number of TV's throughout the place. Will not go back. It's a bar that serves some food and does not succeed well at being a bar or a restaurant. They spotlight their barbecue, but I'd give it the lowest marks. I don't know where they've ever had barbecue in Carolina, but what they call Carolina barbecue is neither western or eastern Caroline 'cue. Chip may have been made in-house, but have no salt whatsoever. Waits for appetizer and entree were way too long. My suggestion - find somewhere else to go. If you are looking for barbecue try Smokers.

Great smoked food. Wings have a great smoked flavor, along with whatever wing flavor you like. Big fat juicy wings! New "Porker" sandwich is Awesome! Chief did it again. Making food that you want to come back for again and again!

For a BBQ place the beef brisket was average. The hush puppies were good though. Wife ordered chicken pot pie. It was one of the largest puff pastries I have seen. As my wife put it "Gordon Ramsey would not approve". Service was slow for a Wednesday night at 730.

Ugh... don't waste your time or money. This place is terrible. The wait was long, the service was terrible the food was mediocre at best.

  • Amy O.

  • Chris G.
